iMac G4 Stuck on blue screen!

Macintosh

Hello everyone! I’m new here and I hope I am following the guidelines. If I’m not, please let me know. I have the flat screen iMac G4 (it’s the one on the half dome)and I am running 10.4.9. In the past year 3 times my computer has gotten stuck on the gray screen with apple and turning gear at boot up, all 3 times, it was fixed by wonderful Mac people I have met. And, I believe all 3 times it was fixed with Disc Warrior. (Of which I don’t have) A few days ago, it went past the gray screen, flashed quickly from black to blue, my curser went up to the top left corner and the screen remained blue and blank, after a minute or so I again saw the turning gear. And that’s it, it just stays there. I was told by a friend at Apple that it sounds like my HD is going. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do? I have tried resetting the PRAM and I have run the test in single user mode. The single user mode says all is well, but I’ve heard it’s not always accurate. Unfortunately, I don’t have the Tiger OS software because my friend put it on my computer so I can’t try a boot up from initial disk. Okay, have to admit…I have never backed up anything on my computer. You’d think I’d have learned from almost losing everything 3 times now! So, here I am with all I need on that computer and no way to back up what may or may not be salvagable. I have a Strawberry G3 but it only has 10.3.9 and not enough space to put all my G4’s stuff on anyway. I wanted to try in Target disk mode, but it doesn’t have a CD burner. HELP! I really need to get the stuff backed up before I lose it all! Plus, I need to see if I can fix this blue screen issue as this is my main computer and my G3’s monitor is going. Thank you in advance for your tme. :) Julianna
