Within the last 6 months I purchased a refurbished iBook G3 and have had a lot of problems with it. The store where I bought it has fixed one problem after installing 2 new hard drives. My new problem is that when using Excel and Word 98 or 2001 (OSX) it always freezes up after a few minutes of activity. The tech at the store suggested I max out on the ram so I now have 640 mgs. but that still didn’t seem to stop the screen from freezing. Could it be that the G3 isn’t compatible with Office 2001, am I doing something incorr., or could it be a problem with the processor? I would love to stop going to the Certified Mac store to no avail. and spending more $$. One weird thing too in regards to the above, is that after I installed the ram and plugged the battery back in, the recorded time on all emails and doc creations is always 8:53; the time when the battery was replugged in. It even changed all the past times. Someone suggested that I didn’t screw the battery panel back in securely enough but I tried that and the problem still exists.
