Are you interested in learning about open source geodata? If so, you
should attend the upcoming South Bay mapping party on November 22nd
and 23rd.

The event details can be found here: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/South_bay

You can RSVP here: http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/1327805

I am hosting this event for OpenStreetMap. OpenStreetMap is an open
70,000 participants in OpenStreetMap worldwide, and we are working to
increase participation here in the US. Mapping parties are events
where anyone can come and participate in the OpenStreetMap project.

Volume for iPhone

I have not been able to get my iPhone to ring. I select Settings. Click Sound. Turn Vibrate off in both options. Selected my ring tone and volume and can test it but when someone calls there is no ring.

Also, volume seems off in voice mail. Very hard to hear and no place to adjust volume.

all help is greatly appreciated!

HP Printer driver for my Mac

I have a G3 biege desktop with 2 selectable OS’s installed, 9.2.2 and 10.2.8. My HP Laserjet 6P printer works OK when the computer is in the OS 10.2.8 mode, however,it prints garbage in the 9.2.2 mode. I have searched various websites but, so far, I have been unsuccessful in finding, downloading and installing a printer driver that supports at least the basic printing functions. Any recommendations?

uninstall flash memory stick

So far, from my Ibook I have been given instructions on how to uninstall a flash memory drive as I thought the Ibook does not need to be told to release it.

That method tells me to select from a pull down but the selection is not in the menu.

A relative who I emailed also gave me instructions to move the drive icon to the TRASH but I see no icon.

Does anybody have another method.

Problems with Appleworks: need a replacement for the spreadsheet application

Appleworks 6.2.9.running on a Power PC G5 under OSX 10.4.9 has developed problems. In spreadsheet application, changing any text in header causes Appleworks to quit. Restarting, deleting pref. files doesn’t fix. Any suggestions for cure? Any suggestions for replacement? We would prefer something low power rather then high power, such as XL.
All comments welcome,
Jim

PowerBook 12" for sale

I’m selling my old laptop on eBay. It’s a PowerBook G4 12” with an 867MHz processor and a 60GB hard disk.

Used PowerBook G4 12” 867Mhz. Custom ordered with 60GB disk and 640MB memory. Bluetooth and AirPort Extreme included.

Used like crazy since purchase, I am the original owner. Low battery life, otherwise fair condition.

Upgraded to Mac OS X 10.4. Original disks are included, however the original box is not.

Prefer to sell locally in South Bay Area, Northern California. Buyer would pick up from 95112.

VMware Fusion Usability Study

Are you an avid Mac user looking to run Windows on your Mac computer? If so, VMware is conducting a usability study for its new Mac offering, VMware Fusion, and would like your opinion!

The purpose of the study is to understand your needs for running Windows on the Mac and learn how you interact with Fusion so that we can improve the product to meet your needs. We’re looking for Mac users at all levels, especially those who have limited or no experience with virtualization products.

These studies will take place at our VMware offices in Palo Alto from February 20th – Mar. 2nd. We are looking for people in the San Francisco/Bay Area willing to travel to our Palo Alto offices during these dates. During the session we will ask you to perform a number of tasks and to answer questions about your experience performing these tasks. The session is expected to last no more than 90 minutes. In appreciation of your time, we would like to offer $100 in American Express gift cards, or a VMware Fusion license.

diminished drive

The 160 GB hard drive I put in my G4 dual 450 has shrunk to 128 GB because the SIIG Ultra ATA 133/100 Pro PCI card I installed seems to have become inopperable. When I bought the card, there was no restriction on dual processor G4s, but now, the same model on SIIG’s website states that it won’t work with dual processor G4s. This all happened after installing “Security Update 2006-005”. I have reconnected the drive to the stock internal bus and have lost access to crucial data. Can anyone help recommend a solution or another card?

My 12” inch power book died. I’d like to remove the hard drive and recover it’s contents. Doe anyone know how to get the casing open? I’ve removed all the screw that I could find, both philips and hex.
